Description
Be inspired by famous works of art and images from nature! Use colorful wool fibers to “paint” on fabric surfaces. Learn to needle felt for the first time or add to your techniques. All are welcome! The projects in this retreat are designed to sequentially build your felting skills. Go home with completed pieces that include a mug rug, landscape and your own masterpiece inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Friday, May 13, 5:00 PM to Sunday, May 15, 1:00 PM
Friday evening enjoy a delicious meal and meet the instructor and fellow participants. Then learn about needle felting tools and materials and make your first “nature-inspired” piece. Saturday will be filled with projects! You’ll learn to manipulate fibers to make fine lines, blend colors and fill spaces. A variety of fabric backings will be used; you’ll learn ways to mount or frame your artworks and view felting resources and examples. We will also tour the mill! After another delicious supper, sit by the fireplace to relax, chat and continue felting as you choose. Sunday, use your own printed landscape image and the techniques you have learned to create another needle felted painting. The retreat will conclude with a time to reflect and share and an opportunity to shop in the Nome Schoolhouse store.
