Participants will learn how to use a felted pad, dyed wool and locks, and other materials that are child safe to needle and wet felt Waldorf style play mats. These are part of the Waldorf teachings for early imaginative play with safe, natural materials stimulating the child’s imagination and story telling. Participants will design their own landscape and use 2 D needle felting as well as wet felting to make strong mats that are safe and durable for young children and can be used with small toys or figures of the child’s choosing.

Ellen Sakornbut is a retired physician and practicing fiber artist working with rare breed wool for the past decade, using rare breeds in spinning, knitting, weaving, and felting. She has been very involved with the Shave’em to Save’em program.
