Participants will learn how to dye any plant based fiber (cellulose) using either quilt cotton or cotton yarns, depending on interest. The basics of how to use fiber reactive dyes along with simple resist processes will be covered (Shibori methods). Although the class does not take place when snow dyeing will be possible, participants will learn how it can be done. Several methods will be possible to explore during the full day class. Enough yarn or quilt cotton will be dyed to complete a full project. The dyed materials will need to be washed out at home (time for the dye to cure) or can be washed out the following day if the participant is taking the Animal fibers class.
