Description
Get ready to unlock your creativity and expand your fiber arts skills. Join us for a weekend of classes dedicated to all things fiber! Our experienced instructors will guide you through four specific core skills: Spinning on A Wheel, Dyeing Fiber, Weaving, and Wet Felting. You’ll learn the techniques, get inspired by other fiber artists, and leave with a renewed passion for your craft. You will have two ways to enjoy classes – ala carte (choose just the ones you want) or attend all four for a full weekend of fiber! Not only will you have the opportunity to expand your knowledge, but you’ll also have the chance to connect with like minded individuals who share your love of fiber arts. Imagine spending a weekend surrounded by fellow creators, sharing stories, and building lasting connections. Our cozy and welcoming atmosphere at the Nome Schoolhouse will make you feel right at home, and delicious meals by Chef Libbie will keep you energized throughout the weekend. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to take your fiber art to the next level. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of fiber arts.
Dyeing Fiber: Would you love to make your own color of yarn, but hate the mess? Here’s your chance to develop color the easy way. We will dye a series of mini skeins with different fiber mixes including cormo, corriedale, mohair and more. You can make a colorway suitable for the Nome Schoolhouse Cowl (knit or crochet pattern is included with the class). Or you can dye for your own project. We will also talk about the different dyes for protein versus plant fibers, how some breeds of wool create a brighter color, and other ways to create color in your yarn.
